City Makes A Mistake And So Did I.
I took down my previous post because the union had informed the Chapter Leaders of the problem. However, my Chapter Leader failed to inform me that the W2-C was simply a correction for suburban educators that the City incorrectly assigned to the City tax box in our W2 form. I am sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. However, the blame lies squarely with the Chapter Leaders who were informed by the union of the issue and have not informed their school staff of the change.
I am sorry for the misunderstanding and the good news is that all the income was reported and for educators who have already filed their taxes, it should not make a difference except that you might have to include the corrected W2 form if asked.
Eric..

Don't even give it a second thought. My CL knew nothing about it (even though some staff members did get amended W2 forms).
ReplyDeletea. the city made a mistake b. The UFT knew and should have sent the members a heads up c. We still don't have our corrected w2 forms.
ReplyDeleteNo one informed my CL of the W2 problem. In fact My CL is the one who informed the UFT on our behalf. She was told that payroll secretaries were emailed but our payroll secretary says she wasn't. I didn't read your removed post so I'm not sure what your mistake was. Not all of us who live in the suburbs have received a corrected W2. So it still seems like a NYC and UFT screw up to me.
