Of course, whomever I voted for in the Leadership and Executive Board positions I also voted for them as delegates as well. Moreover, if I know the person and didn't vote for that person, its because I don't like what that person did in his or her official position. Finally, if I don't know the person by reputation, I didn't vote for them.
Regardless who you vote for, please vote
What ever happened to the principal at Clinton High School that was in the NY Post for like three days straight? Bundle of evidence, etc.? The one who was a former deputy chancellor? Hahahahaa, think he has some dirt on the DOE? Untouchable. Love it!
ReplyDeleteNothing happens to administrators. Ever. Look at John Bowne...TWO SEXUAL HARASSMENT settlements and he still has his job. Not one, TWO. No other evidence is needed.
ReplyDeleteGot my election form in mail. It says on bottom if you'd like to vote for either More or Unity you can mark the box and just bypass anything else. Thats exactly what I did along with my wife and her sister and pretty much all our friends and co-workers. Unity!
ReplyDeleteYay for Unity! Yay for a contract that gives me part of my raise years later!! Yay for givebacks on healthcare! Yay for givebacks on jobs protections!! Screw progress!! Let's keep Unity-fied!!!!
DeleteI guess some of us rather vote for the person rather than the caucus and take our time making the right choice.
ReplyDeleteIf your choices were elected, the first thing they would do is convene exec board and vote to remove Portelos as President. They'd leave him nominally in the office, but grant all real power to the leader of whatever caucus had a majority. Assuming MORE, the exec board would hire Jia as COO. So, your plan, while interesting, collapses in the real world. I voted UNITY. Mulgrew has the experience and the brass for the job. Jia's a lightweight, albeit a serious professional, and your choice is a narcissist. Strange that u don't see it.

ReplyDeleteActually Leroy Barr is the real power behind UNITY caucus. Mulgrew is a figurehead who cares little about his members. Instead Mulgrew wants to curry favor with De Blasio and Farina.
I have great respect for Chaz. He doesn't mindlessly check a box on different colored ballots like they do in the third world but reasonably considered what was best for him.
ReplyDeleteI might disagree with some of his choices but I support his right to choose who he believes makes our lives better.
Unity supports Hillary....I vote against Unity.
ReplyDeleteIf Chaz's choices came to be elected, it would be a bigger mess than the Republican party today. However, the comment is right that Portelos with virtually no support on the Executive Board would have no power. As for people voting Unity, this is why we are treated so poorly in the schools. We keep reelecting the same people who agreed to take away most of our rights. MORE-NEW ACTION all the way. It is the only sane choice as VP elementary school candidate Lauren Cohen says.
ReplyDeleteI'll get the executive board to fall in line. Don't worry.
DeleteUnity isn't loyal to Leroy, they're loyal to their staffing and jobs.
They'll fall in line with what's best for us and our students.
Unity members are fed up too.
ROTFLMFAO!!!!!
DeleteJust got my UFT ballot. There is an option to vote for one slate but there is no box for Solidarity - only MORE and Unity. I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteJames:
ReplyDeleteI vote for the person and not the party. I voted for Portelos because he understands the ATR issue and is a supporter of "teacher justice" and not that "social justice" bullshit that Jia Lee supports. Had you, Arthur, or Jonathan been the Presidential candidate, my decision what have been different.

Solidarity is not listed because the caucus failed to get enough members to obtain a slot on the front page and is one of the major reasons I didn't vote for any of them because of their lack of outreach.
That is not fair, many teachers never heard of Solidarity. That puts Solidarity in a disadvantage. Very few people are going to select.Solidarity candidates.
DeleteUFT - Unity thinks that ATRs are like regular teachers, but regular teachers do not get observed when they are doing a coverage out of license. Regular teachers were appreciated this week, but not any ATRs. Some ATRs got Us in flyby observations this week by the ATR field assassins. Do you really want to see Mulgrew as president again? Or maybe he should be an ATR for a while so he knows the nonsense that is going on. VOTE FOR UFT - Solidarity because we have been in the trenches, and we are in touch with reality. Each one of you please spread the word. We need each of you to win this campaign.
ReplyDeleteSome groups of ATRs are being targeted with the hiring of new field supervisors. A lot of lawyers have been hired too taking away resources from the classroom. Other ATRs are left alone for now, but eventually they are being pushed out. How can these observations on ATRs be fair? They are not, the whole process is designed too get rid of ATRs with the blessings of UFT-Unity. It is just another misuse of resources since lawsuits are piling up, and ocercrowding is at its maiximum. Just more failing policies. Please spread the word that we cannot vote for Mulgrew again, and his defense of common core and junk science to rate teachers, they have stopped caring about teachers and they are looking the other way. They have agreed with policies that have put our beloved teachers in vulnerable situations, and incompetent/abusive adminstrators are running our schools to the ground.Vote for UFT - Solidarity because we have been in the trenches.
ReplyDeleteSolidarity is a spoiler. Do NOT vote for them.
DeleteMORE/NA all the way!!!
1:29,
ReplyDeleteThere wasn't a lack of outreach, just a lack of signatures from the candidates. A detail that could have been overlooked but was not - with MORE and NA pointing their fingers at each other as the responsible party. Solidarity knows the issues, requested debates, and doesn't put a premium on social justice over teacher justice.
I like many of the MORE candidates, but Solidarity's more. Portelos is the better candidate - so I don't understand why the caucuses just didn't combine. It doesn't matter now anyway, but why all the vitriol at this point? Neither Lee nor Portelos will win.
ReplyDeleteChaz, I was told today that I will not be hired back in September at my renewal school. I interviewed for my job about 3 weeks ago. 24 years and I will be provisionally placed in September at a school in my district and I will be observed and destroyed in the Danielson model. I'm dead. Oh well, we shall see what happens. Disgusting!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this? All Unity members, and all MORE New Action members would fold like cheap suit if it was them. That's why talk is easy, action makes the difference.

Hi Chaz,
ReplyDeleteWhy are you endorsing Bad Bad LeRoy Barr? Just curious.
Anon 5:02
ReplyDeleteBecause he knows the inner working of the union and his institutional memory would help any new administration to navigate the terrain.
We need to change many things, but we need to start listening to teachers. VOTE FOR SOLIDARITY CANDIDATES BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN IN THE TRENCHES.
