You Think Our Pay Raise Was Puny - Look What The Federal Employees Are Getting.

In our newest contract UFT members will be getting a puny 2% annual raise for the next three years and eight months, the length of the contract.  While our raises are less than than the inflation rate.  Pity the Federal civilian employees who had their 2.3% annual raise rescinded by President Donald Trump due to the budget impasse and his hostility to civilian public service employees.

The Senate proposed a 1.9% par raise but the House never voted on it.but the Democrats take over next weekend and can vote on the Senate proposal or come up with their own pay raise proposal in January.  See the article Here.

The military is exempt from the pay freeze.  They are getting a 2.6% annual pay raise for 2019.

I guess there is no happy new year for federal employees. Read the entire article Here.

How many years have we gone without a pay hike? Unfortunately this makes fiscal sense. And the tax cuts to the wealthy? Have you seen the new tax laws?

How does a federal worker's medical coverage plans compare to UFT and other city workers?

  5. You think Trump is bad wait until Bloomberg buys the Democratic nomination and the election! I'm sure Randi is negotiating her endorsement with him right now. Happy New Year's!

    Happy new year everyone.
In At top salary. 30 years in . No sense waiting for more raises. Hostile work environment. Admin wants me to move on too .Turning in retirement papers in May. True restoration of body and mind at 55 in action. Does anyone have an idea of how many teachers will retire in 2019?

  8. Why do we keep on looking down and say, "it could be worse" Instead of looking up and saying, "it could be better!" This, "it could be worse" is a tired old UFT/Unity trope and hardly a rallying cry for members. Although at least 88% of us, except the OT/PTs bought that line

Chaz states, "The military is exempt from the pay freeze. They are getting a 2.6% annual pay raise for 2019."

Why can't we be as important to the country as the military? We always get the lip service that we are, until it comes time to pay.

to 8:51 PM - Let's say you retire as of the last day of May - the pension starts June first. However if you wait until July 1st, you'll get your pension plus two full months pay for July and August.

Be sure to go to the final consultation - best wishes and good luck!

  10. If you retire June 1, you still get 90 percent of summer pay.

  11. Hey Chaz, a question. I received a notice that I am in arrears of paying into my TRS. (They said I owed $1.42 which will automatically be deducted) This is because of the contract raises we had recently right? Because I am past the point of putting into it (I just put into the TDA now).

  12. I assume you mean your pension contributions? I guess they routinely audit the pension contributions and found that shortfall. Otherwise, I am at a loss.

    Contact TRS and ask them.
