Lydia Howrilka For UFT President

The UFT elections are fast approaching and I have reviewed the candidates of various caucuses and here are my candidates for the various union posts.

President:  Lydia Howrilka:of Solidarity Caucus

Lydia Howrilka  is a tireless worker and has made the Solidarity caucus relevant and no longer a one man show.  She was rubber roomed because she stood up for her rights and was discontinued before winning in Court and received a new position at another school.

By contrast, present UFT President Mickeal Mulgrew is disconnected and arrogant.  He rather suck up to the Mayor and the Chancellor than give his members an adequate raise. The MORE candidate does not reflect UFT membership with MORE turning sharply left with it's Socialist/Communist philosophy.

Executive Board: Arthur Goldstein and Micheal Shirtzer UNITY caucus and Johnathan Halabi New Action caucus.

Secretary: Francesco Portelos Solidarity caucus.

Treasurer: James Calantjis Solidarity caucus.

Presently, these are my candidates I will be voting for. As the electron date comes closer, I will be listing more selections as the electron slates are published..

Mulgrew always sides with the Leadership Principals like Dwarka destroying schools, and careers of innocent veteran teachers who speak up.

I think during these times we should stick with Mulgrew. Mulgrew was there from the very beginning with regard to Janus and I believe we need Mulgrew in place so that our union does not get too disorganized or unsettled with a new president.

The evil doers are circling us and would love nothing else than to see the UFT lose a significant number of members. Mulgrew deserves the re-election for this reason and for the fact of all the work put forth prior to the Janus case preparing us for the storm when it hit last June.

Yes Mulgrew is not perfect and he has allowed the atr scene to go on under his watch but in education right now there is no where else I rather be than in NYC. Call you friends in Chicago or LA, Denver or Houston, Ohio or Tennessee or how bout Florida and see how it is over there.

Halabi is rumored to be running for president on New Action line so you have a tough choice.

MORE positions are not socialist or communist. But you will not find a MORE person who is not a socialist or communist. Not that there is anything wrong with being a communist or socialist. Those are the only people welcome or will feel comfortable in MORE which is problematical for a caucus that says it wants to organize rank and file, most of whom are not socialists.

Mulgrew can go fuck himself. I’m voting straight Solidarity. I like Arthur but can’t vote for him in the Nazi Party.

Does everyone know that Union Delegates and Chapter Leaders must sign a contract that they will vote for the incumbent president of the UFT when there is an election? Sounds Fascist to me.

  14. I totally disagree with your choice of endorsement for UFT president. Lydia has only a few years experience as a teacher. She isn't even tenured. She is going to be supporting our membership without experience under her belt. I have found her to be condescending and insensitive to a few atrs. I know of a few atrs that she has blocked because she doesn't like their point of view. That is really showing objectivity and support isn't it. Portelos is more interested in his own agenda than the good of the people. I have seen him first here disclose information that individuals wanted kept private.I have no confidence in him.

  15. Not true at all anon 9:28. There are many delegates and chapter leaders running in the election against Unity.

Does Mulgrew (or any other UFT bigwig) still need to have a teaching assignment?

I know our district rep is a social studies teacher somewhere.

    Just asking.

    Dear Chaz,

Based on your all of your previous blogs, you have proven to be be quick to judgement about people you don't know and biased. Why would we or I trust your judgement to vote for this person. What you say about other people also reveals much about you.

Its time to make Mulgrew teach. At least he will earn his salary. Now he does nothing.

Chaz is pure entertainment, that's why I read his blog from time to time. We all know better than to rely on his judgement. Not to mention that his data analysis skills are laughable especially when he speaks with conviction about a flawed conclusion. We joke about it all the time at school. Can't believe you are a science teacher, Chaz. Your students likely did poorly.

Sorry Chaz, can't take advice from some one who can't properly interpret data and is too biased to care. LOL!!!

Too bad you're not smart enough to understand statistics. Moreover, I doubt you actually teach in a school. Finally, when Michael Mulgrew tells you to jump, rather then question him why? You say "how high"?

For years I would tell people not to vote for Mulgrew. Reasons: 1) arrogant 2) does not stand up for teachers rights. 3) could not care about the membership 4) has no clue what it it like to be teaching under Danielson. However now that I am retired I want Mulgrew to win. I want to see teachers continue to be thrown under the bus. I want to see teachers complain about the workload. And most of all I want to see a disconnected union leader continue to laugh at the member ship.

    Hey 2:36

Why don't you have the guts to identify yourself and the imaginary school you allegedly work in?

    @7:09

Why do you want to see teachers suffer? Because you're no longer in the system? You sound like a terrible person.

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.

    Then they came for me
and there was no one left
    to speak out for me.
