Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) Supports NYC Public Schools
We all know that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is a dedicated Democrat Socialist and I have little in common with fringe left and tea party politicians, be it AOC or Ted Cruz of Texas. However, there is one place that I agree with AOC and that is public education.
Despite the misleading New York Post headline, AOC is a strong supporter of public education. According to the article, AOC talked about improving NYC public schools. “This issue is structural and it is systemic which means we need a solution just like with the Green New Deal, we need a solution on the scale of the problem", said the lawmaker.
She recalled her own experience with the NYC public school in the Bronx which she was a dual language student and was falsely labeled as needing special education services until she was tested out of the program. AOC's family moved to Westchester for a better education and only moved back into Jackson Heights, Queens after completing college.
Interestingly, AOC could never have been recruited to the charter schools since they refuse to take Special Education and English Language Learners and AOC knows that While I oppose most every policy AOC supports, we are in agreement when it comes to public education.
IIhan Omar, Ocasio-Cortez this is the new face of the Democratic Party? What a joke. What's more fascinating is that fellow Democrats are afraid to censure or speak out against them in anyway. (Look what happened to Chelsea Clinton at NYU this past week). I am so tired of hearing about Ocasio- Cortez. The only thing good about her is that she has single handedly split the Democratic Party making it that much easier for Trump to gain re-election in 2020. So all you liberal anti-Semitic, white hating liberals you can stick that in your craw.
ReplyDeleteShe's really the first politician I've seen that really gets it when it comes to the issues around public education. She made a point that if a mayor or politician supports charter schools, he/she is admitting that the public schools are no good and not worth saving. It's probably because she is young that she understands the issues. The older ones still believe schools are the same as when they went to school.
ReplyDeleteShe is anti-western civilization in general, and even though she is dating a white guy (aren't all the people of color activists!) she only has the interests of people according to racial standards, not equality, not color-blind, etc.
ReplyDeleteKeep that in mind, because it's people like her who are of the mindset that teachers 'should reflect' the color of their students. That means the 80% white teaching force will further be attacked.
I'm not so sure that a person who felt she had to leave the city because her school was "so bad" would have intentions to save city public schools?
ReplyDeleteI was there yesterday. AOC was on point. Took copious notes when Diane Ravitch was speaking too.
ReplyDeleteAOC is gonna be a memory in 5 years.
ReplyDeleteAOC she now goes by an acronym... how great is it when a person leads you to believe she was inner city born and raised (she is more country hick than I am) gets elected mainly because people had enough of the tired old establishment. don't make her a rock star until she 1.learns to tell the truth 2.walks the walk remember sheep she already try not to be taken by the siren!!
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump would have needed SPED services.
ReplyDeleteChaz, duel language really? Was it pistols or swords?
ReplyDeleteaoc is a racist commy who criticizes everything and anything about America and its people And founders...funny thing though is that aoc is puerto rican and puerto rico currently is a total mess because of all the great thinkers down there were caught with their pants down during the hurricane and now puerto rico is a slume of mud.
ReplyDeleteIt this woman aoc has all these great ideas then why doesn't she bring them to puerto rico where her family is now living and the country so desperately need? PUerto rico needs your GREAT ideas not America we are doing OK. Bring all your great innovations and ideas down to puerto rico and stop criticizing America along with her partner in crime ilhan omar the anti semite.
anon
ReplyDeleteDuel can also mean two
Sorry Chaz, duel always means some sort of contest, encounter or battle. DUAL means two.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine any pro American or pro Israel person having anything good to say about this racist! If the uft ever says anything good about her or endorses her for anything, that would be a disgrace. Hopefully that'll never happen.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate what AOC said during the town hall. I hope she runs for higher office. A lot of straightening up and out would occur.
ReplyDeletethe anti semite and her partner omar has the demorats shaking in their boots...hahahaha what a bunch of pantsies..
ReplyDeleteTrump 2020 ..stands for Israel and America...
STOP the fear from these neophytes these anti semites are just like the millenials .all talk and no action...maybe she should shut her big mouth once in a while and not strain her brain
How about this genius telling us we should fix our schools yet lets Amazon walk away from pumping billions of dollars in tax revenue into the city economy.
She has zero credibility and zero dollars and its no surprise since her message is everyone gets everything for FREE...IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't anyone remember New York City's last colorful Congressperson, Vito Marcontonio. He represented East Harlem for quite some time. The article below is worth the read.

Dual means two, Duel means to fight.
ReplyDelete@7:27am I tried telling Chaz but he did not post it. Thanks
DeleteAOC believes firmly in socialism, reparations, identity politics, Black Lives Mater, open borders, and The Green New Deal. While those ideas may sound pretty cool in the college faculty lounge not sure they sell too well to America writ large.
ReplyDeleteOne would think Dems running (who are aware now ridiculous her ideas are) would renounce her at every turn. They cannot. They are frighty-scared of being accused of racism, sexism, and gender bias if they do. That's the Democratic Party today and that's not the recipe for national success.
All Trump's gotta continue to do is point out the folly in her ideas as only he apparently can do, and point out the fact the Dem candidates support the nonsense notions, and he'll win. Again.
AOC is positive she is always right - that seems to be a common attribute of the millennials. Perhaps it is an outgrowth of all the participation trophies, Purell, and safe spaces they experienced. As far as they are concerned they are precious and protected and perfect creatures. For that group, BTW, experience means nothing.
ReplyDeleteI think she was a typical know-it-all dipping her toes into public school policy - while dispensing advice on pedagogy - prior to winning her election. All, of course, without spending a day actually teaching. Setting the pattern for her recent forays way out of her depth.
Miss AOC represents what I would never want to happen to a student; that they sit there and passively absorb a bunch of pie-in-the-sky hooey about free this, that, and the other and never actively evaluate what they've heard. They listen to the wonders of government control over much of your life and how much more "fair" it is that everyone have the same things, that people who don't want to work should (of course!) be able to rely on the rest of us for their livelihood, that everything should be "free", that brutal murderous thugs like Castro and Maduro are heroes of the people, and other stuff along these lines as to how the U.S. should be. There has never been a successful 100% socialist government. Ever. So why would we want to throw away our freedom and yolk ourselves to a system which has been proven over and over again to be a bust?
ReplyDeleteThese passive students listen to the impractical "green" ideas for energy (hey, greenies--did you know your wind machines kill hundreds of thousands of birds every year, including bald eagles?) and try to force everyone else to adhere to those "looks good on paper" follies.
They listen to catchy headlines without bothering to read and evaluate the veracity of the article itself. That's why people like her think people several generations removed from slaves deserve "reparation". Hey, why don't Jews knock up Egypt then, for over 400 years of slavery? And gosh, what about the black slave owners? There were some, we know. And do you think I would I would give a second glance to someone who has allied herself to the trio of foul women--Omar, Tlaib, and Sarsour--who spew anti-semitic, anti-Israel and anti-America remarks with their every breath? You are, you know, known by the company you keep. And AOC's associates are the lowest of the low.
AOC also shames her alma mater Boston U. Supposedly, she has a degree in economics from this institution, yet she drove away Amazon, which would have given jobs to thousands of people and through them, added millions to the anemic NYC economy. Her reasons were based on ideology, not facts. As are most of her ideas. I intend to stay far away from this anti-semitic blathering idiot, as I feel anyone with a wit of common sense will eventually do.
This one is only in office because 16,000 racists voted for her due tot he fact that she is a minority woman. AOC is ignorant and clueless. She is a puppet for the radical left wingers. And sorry whoever supports her is as dumb as she is (maybe dumber). AND Trump would have sped services? Well I doubt it but many students have learning disabilities but are not dumb. Sad that a teacher would post this.
ReplyDelete@4:02...what?!

The UfT endorsed Obama. Obama brought in Artie Duncan. Duncan and Obama held back money in their "race to the top" initiative. Two things happened one more charter schools and the UFT sold the teachers of New York an inferior contract. And I forgot to mention Obama running up the national deficit to over 20 trillion dollars; while spending more money then any president in the history of this country. Now we can all be poor but the kid in the hood will most assured have $300 pair of sneakers and an Obama phone.
ReplyDeleteRead the original post please. AOC is no Obama on education. She is a public school supporter all the way.
ReplyDeleteUFT supports all the progressives destroying NYC. I always vote the opposite.
