The DOE Failure To Take Action Against Willian Cullen Bryant's Administration Smacks Of Corruption.
Here will go again. The New York Post published a report showing how the school administration stiffed their students and failed to pay them for summer work to fix and upgrade the school's computer system after promising to pay them for their work. When the Chancellor was contacted by two students complaining they were stiffed, the DOE's response was to send the emails back to the Principal who scheduled a discipline hearing and put the two students at risk, just incredible! The DOE informed the Post that they are now investigating the accusation, why not when the accusations happened?. How many DOE investigations are there on William Cullen Bryant High School and why is Principal Namita Dwarka still in charge? The answer is simple, the DOE investigations are corrupt!
William Cullen High School has seen a mass exodus of veteran teachers leave the school through retirement, resignation, and the few lucky ones who transferred to other schools despite their salary. The school's teaching staff mainly consist of inexperienced teachers and in some subjects like Earth Science are not certified to teach the subject. Furthermore, due to the administrative actions students passing the Regents physical Sconces (Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics) have dropped 20 points in the last few years. If I look at the rest of the subjects, I'm sure there are similar drops.
When it comes to Principal Namita Dwarka the list of accusations against her are mind boggling as she continues to run this once great school into the ground. Yet the DOE has repeatedly failed to take any action against her or remove her for the sake of the students and staff alike. This is just another case of the DOE's corrupt investigation process when it comes to disciplining favored administrators.

I got offered a job there 2 years ago. A big sacrifice to go from Westchester to Queens. Especially if you are hired provisionally and then set loose to be an ATR in Queens, instead of the Bronx. They didn't tell me it was provisional until the last minute. Virtually no ATRs are being hired permanently. (Why isn't the union addressing that?) I turned it down. I got several calls from those on staff pleading with me. I said I can't work in a school that has those kind of issues. I can't believe that the same nonsense I'd still going on.
Regent scores have plummeted in math 30 points.
FYI Anonymous 6:36
You would not be required to remain in Queens unless you had your district formally changed under an "appointment", which you will likely never see again.
Been there, done that.
In Bryant we had tons of investigations, and they keep exonerating Dwarka they keep going after teachers.
Dear Chaz,
On a separate topic. No one seems to be addressing the truths about ineffective a and the consequences of getting two I's in a row. Is there a consequence like an expedited 3020-a? How come the union hasn't made this clear to us? Can we lose our jobs with two Ineffectives in a row? What about Developings? What's the difference? Etc? What are the rules? No one is talking about it.
The Union does not want you to have information.
No Princess Arundel at the Bronx UFT ATR meeting on Monday. Some third string guy named Phil- I think he serves her coffee. Told the crowd that principals could hire them at the average teacher salary until the contract ends in 2016. I'm opting out of this union retroactively, from the time I became an ATR.
So, what happens if you get 2 Ineffectives in a row? 2 Developings in a row? Really, what happens?
The UFT will help to get rid of you.
Dear Anon 2:10,
It was all talk, no action. The joke is on you and anyone else who received Ineffectives for 2 straight years. You see, they wanted you and others to get scared, maybe retire. However, you didn't and neither did others. Congrats to you!!! To answer your question, NOTHING happens. It was a lot of BS. You know what to do now. Just survive.
We still do not understand the reluctance of the DOE in removing her.
those bombs that went on the hospital in afghanistan should have been directed there. not on a school day of course.
This is the most dishonest and incompetent administration the school ever had. They lie in the observations just to get rid of veteran teachers.
The level of harassment and discrimination that veteran teachers are going through is beyond belief.
