Rumor Has It That The DOE And UFT Will Extend The ATR Agreement To The End Of The Contract.

I have been told that the DOE and UFT are so pleased with the ATR agreement that the.agreement will continue, essentially unchanged,  till the end of the contract which is June of 2018.  Yes, its true, our disconnected union leadership has basically signed off on the continuation of the ATR agreement and what does that mean to the ATRs?  Let me count the ways.
.
  • ATRs who miss two mandatory interviews are assumed to have voluntarily resigned,
  • ATRs who fail to show up on the second day of a new assignment is assumed to have voluntarily resigned.
  • ATRs who had two Principals accuse them of the ill-defined professional misconduct in consecutive years are subject to a one day 3020-a hearing.
  • ATRs who get two unsatisfactory ratings by field supervisors, based upon "flyby observations" in schools with students they have little idea about, will be subject to a 3020-a termination hearing.
  • ATRs in a district will be "forced placed" to temporary vacancies in other districts within the Borough  without the right to refuse the placement.
  • ATRs do not have mutual consent rights.
  • ATRs are given reduced "due process rights".
I for one would like the union to revert back to the 2007 ATR agreement which would eliminate the awful rotation, give the ATR the same "due process rights" that other teachers enjoy. and a stable placement for the school year.

Why would the UFT agree to this, without any input from ATRs? What does Arundel say about this? Does she have opinions, other than those given to her? How about more-new action, can they get some answers?

Let us thank the lazy, clueless, apathetic "educators" sitting to the left and to the right of you in the teachers lounge, 75% of whom could not be bothered to read up a little on the different candidates for UFT president and then to VOTE. They sat on their fat moronic asses and did not bother to vote, or patted themselves on the back for executing a quick checkmark on "the devil they know", the Unity caucus. That our lives have been made absolutely miserable, with the Sword of Damocles ever hanging over our heads and all the stress-related medical conditions that has caused, that we have been severed from the work we loved to do, that we are an eternal stranger in a strange land never even crossed their minds. Wave a couple of quick bucks and some feeble ill-defined promises in front of them and SOLD! They rise to the bait like trout to a mayfly lure. It is frightening to contemplate that these same "educators", who cannot be bothered to educate themselves enough to knowledgeably participate in a crucially important election are teaching the kids. I have nothing but contempt for them, the veteran "#1 comes first, last, and always" types who have little to no regard for the next guy and the naive uncommitted newbies who can't even define "solidarity with colleagues" and who would undertake any action to betray a a colleague to the admin if it brought them better classes or a promise of tenure.

This is not a union, this is not a unified front maintained by members for the benefit of all. As Benjamin Franklin, a man of peerless intellect said, "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." I guess the aforementioned don't care if anyone hangs, so long as it's not them. Thanks a whole lot, folks.

The suppposed open market is a serious joke. I have been applying to the open market since 2012 and have never received a call. I provide crucial services for our kids working as a social worker but have been reduced by the doe to the atr pool since my school closed _ lehman hs..... consequently i go to different schools and do nothing....thats right nada....since 2012 traveling around as an atr social worker checking the open market and seeing wonderful opportunities for me to provide social emotional help to students in dire need. I apply to these schools never to hear a peep. To go one further, I will also send an email to the principal directly from our email system and still no one gets back to me. So unprofessional. Even a message of thanks we received your application but not at this time. No, instead I am left out in the cold wondering what the heck is going on with the doe?? This is total bull shit as the doe is not concerned about kids but rather a political machine brain washed by the media while the poor kids of nyc suffer with inferior simple minded newbie teachers, counselors and ofcourse social workers. Walk around these schools toady and you will be hard pressed to be able to destinguish who is a student and who is a teacher. Why the doe continues this mike bloomberg destruction is beyond my brain but one has to ponder how inept the doe actually is...a bloated wasteful disgusting organization which is destroying the lives of students AND educators all because of politics and the media.
