Did The Mayor And Chancellor Put NYC Students And Staff At Risk?
It is becoming increasingly clear that the Mayor and Chancellor has put students and staff at risk by first delaying closing the schools a week earlier then they did. then forcing school staff to come in the next week when the coronavirus was exploding throughout the City. The DOE refused to close Brooklyn Tech, despite five staff members experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus. Moreover, two principals at a Brownsville high school were already hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms but the building staff was required to attend senseless training sessions the next week at the building, Even in my wife's school, three staff members have been diagnosed with the coronavirus but because they could not be tested until last week, the entire staff can be potentially affected to the coronavirus.
The DOE claimed that they would only close schools if there were "confirmed case" of coronavirus. Of course, at that stage in early March, the City had few testing kits for co4onavirus, therefore, the DOE kept these potentially affected schools open, possibly affecting many students and staff to the highly contagious contravirus. Now the Mayor told the press that he expects to open the schools on April 20 after telling the very same press that the coronavirus will last till the sunnier months.
As of Saturday morning the NYC death rate has skyrocketed with 517 deaths and 29,158 infected with the coronavirus. A 1.8% mortality rate. Governor Andrew Cuomo has said the peak of the coronavirus in New York State will occur in three weeks on or about April 16th, based upon his expert's estimation.
Note: Read the New York Post article about a pregnant teacher who was tested and still the DOE refused to close her school, In addition. how this Bronx school administrators threatened staff with termination if they told students one of their teachers had the coronavirus.

They screwed up royally.....class action and personal lawsuits will be dropped on their asses like daisy cutters.....
(Not sure about your math but, looking at New York STATE numbers)
Right now, Saturday early AM, NYS reports 46,262 cases and 606 deaths. That demonstrates a mortality rate of 1.3% statewide right now.
(Of course NYS does not know the real number of those who have the virus...the number used is the number of those who took the test and the test indicated positive for the virus)
The major and chancellor and our union have blood on their hands. Rather than worry about our health, we were told by the mayor we were needed to babysit and give the teenagers a place to go basically acknowledging that neither he or their parents couldn't manage then.
There needs to be a class-action lawsuit against the may and chancellor.
Our union president needs to be replaced. Mulgrew's failure to protect and advise members to protect their health and safety is inexcusable. There is no do-over, I will try better, etc.
THIS IS WAS A LIFE AND DEATH DECISION AND MULGREW AND HIS CRONIES FAILED ALL OF US.
Mulgrew has to go. He can no longer lead.
That death rate percentage is way off. Please check your math.
Lead story in the NY Post about a pregnant teacher who tested positive, told the school and 311, but was told her note from her doctor wasn't official enough and they kept the school open. Now 5 other staff members have the illness and kids were exposed because they went in on March 19 to claim their stuff.
How do I send an email from a district superintendent which states staff should not be informed if a student or staff member tests positive to Sue Edelman and keep it anonymous?
For sue edelmans phone number contact James at iceuft@gmail.com
Some teachers were threatened that they were face fraudulent charges of dismissal if they would have spoken up.
That's why you have to remain anonymous. Sue Edelman will keep you anonymous if you wish. She's good that way.
The Union also played the game with the DOE unfortunately like always. They played the game to make us think that they are on our side.
Prediction:
Watch Cuomo ride his masterful stewardship right into the Whitehouse....
Mulgrew has been playing the game with the DOE against teachers for a long time.

Yes, Cuomo looks competent and on top of things and the whole country sees it.
The only way Cuomo winds up in the White House is if the establishment Dems tell Joe the election was last Thursday, tell Joe he won, and give Joe a grand desk in his basement.
Then they can give it to Andrew at a brokered convention. Won't beat Trump but at least there will be an opponent for Trump who knows what year it is.
Mulgrew-Carranza-De Blasio the three stooges.
Will next years budget cuts eliminate the ATR position? What do you think?

Cuomo won't beat Trump?
Everything Trump does, with the exception of trade, is a train wreck.

While I don't like President Trump you need to give him credit for living up to his campaign promises.
7:55
The DOE will try but the union would have to approve the elimination of the ATRs and I highly doubt the union leadership will do that.
Where is the wall paid by Nexico?
They really did everything they could to cover it up like they do with the the grade inflation. All those investigations are never investigated. The DOE and the UFT cannot be trusted.

Trump is poised to win pretty easily in 2020. No matter how the increasingly oddball (and increasingly distrusted) establishment press and loud Democrats try to spin it, folks know Trump is not responsible for the virus and the damage it has caused in many sectors including the economy. He's kept (or tried to keep) many of his campaign promises and is more popular than ever.
That doesn't mean the NYT, WAPO, celebrities, friends, and family are necessarily fans of Trump or his policies or accomplishments.
Since he beat Hillary pretty badly, 304-227, and is now more popular than he was then it is pretty simple math to see a clear victory. Of course, some folks don't know the electoral number, take in knowledge via partisan liberal sources, and buy the irrelevant popular count jive so they are startled to hear he'll win pretty easily this time. Heck, they were shocked he won last time...and probably shocked to see him gain popularity following the Russia Collusion Hoax and Shampeachment.

Not everything he wanted came to be but he is building the wall on the southern border by using funds allocated for other uses.
I would think instead of eliminating the atr pool they would be eliminating all the thousands of teachers hired during the past couple of years before anyone.. as we all abide by the lifo law so ignorant people need to look at all the newbie nontenured teachers in the system and not any atrs.
If the UFT allowed ATRs to be terminated they would be breaking NYS law. LIFO means all those annoying twenty something know-it-all’s are out. I’m crying already. Mulgrew will really be crying. He’ll be losing newbie dues and ATR dues. No more dues for Mulgrew. Remove your nose from Bill’s anus, Mike! Start representing the rank and file!
I am always 1000 percent in support of unions however Mulgrew needs to go. He sold teachers out by sticking with his idiot friend De Blasio. De Blasio should be charged with a crime and needs to serve time. He refused to close schools when everything else was shut down. Total BS excuse students needed food. De Blasio helped spread the virus. Probably joked "I have not seen any dead bodies have you?" Exposing us with Mulgrew looking the other way. This is a crime.
