Governor Andrew Cuomo Orders The Schools To Close For 24 Hours If A child Or Staffer Gets The Coronavirus

Governor Andrew Cuomo orders a school to close for 24 hours and the school get treated before the.school can reopen if a child or staffer gets the coronavirus.  How that affects NYC schools is uncertain but I can't see the NYC schools being exempt from the Governor's order but time will tell.

I believe the Governor's action is prudent and appropriate but let's see if the Mayor follows the Governor's example.

The Department of Education is hiring 85 contract (temporary) nurses during the coronavirus epedemic.  However, these nurses will not be full time employees and will have no direct access to student records.  To me this is merely a public relations ploy by the City rather than to alleviate the school nurse shortage.

Some good news.  The City has ordered all schools to install no touch hand sanitizers.  How many and how soon is still a question.

To all the Justin Stark followers:

After being "excessed" from Port Richmond HS in SI, and Edison HS in Queens, the failed NYCDOE Administrator / ATR Supervisor Justin Stark surfaced at Mesivita Yam Hatora in Far Rock as a Social Studies Teacher in Sept 2019.

His biography notes 17 yrs of NYCDOE service.

The bitch couldn't even make the minimum 20 yrs.....wonder if he got a 3020A

Makes me feel like dancing!

Chaz:

Thanks but I can't see the City closing our babysitting and feding centers, otherwise known as our public schools.

The system should be shut down as soon as possible. It won't happen, but it should. I get the cliche "babysitting service" and "feeding centers" thing and realize that is one element, but this virus is growing day by day. I teach at a high school and half the kids don't even realize what is fully going on. I stress the word "half" because I am in no way saying some don't understand the potential consequences of this virus - some very well do. The potential domino effect of this thing is incredible. Just say you teach at a school where one of the staff or students is found to have contact with someone who has the virus. Do not all staff members need to report this to the schools their own children attend? You see where I'm getting at? Close it all down and get a handle on this because it is just growing more and more day by day.

The city is closing/cancelling all mass gatherings. Yet 2000 students congregating in one building where they sweat and touch everything is perfectly fine. Time to cancel everything.

The mayor won't close the schools. Sure, he will go on Twitter and criticize the President's response to the crisis. But he will take no action. None. Sorry, but saying schools should "clean more" is not a solution. It's not even close. Masks should handed out everyday. Procedures should be implemented across the DOE to minimize human contact. It's a reality. But sorry mayor, saying the President isn't doing enough while you spend your time at the gym and NOT running the city, is not a solution.

First nyc student with corona in Bronx HS...the HS is the Bronx preparatory HS which is also housed with a middle school....no one there speaks English and everyone is from central america...

So sad that we as a culture have given up our language and culture to another country and we can all thank our astute politicians like plosive, Clinton, schemer, Obama and the rest of the jerk politicians who acquire millions and feed us the manure

ATR Supervisor Justin Stark went from making $120,000/yr at the NYCDOE, to making about $50,000 at the Yeshiva, with no pension benefits.

We all thought he was an fool, now it's proven!

my child's school district closed. can i take off as nonattendance without using a CAR DAY or does it come out of my bank?

Doesn’t sound like it’s one of the criteria on the non-attendance form. Call in sick

It is a shame being an ATR because
being transferred from school to school.
You increased your odds of getting the virus.

You also increase the odds of spreading the virus
