School iscipline Policy Continues To Be A Joke

One of the sore points in the NYC school system is the school safety issue.   Under Mayor Bill de Blasio's school safety has deteriorated dramatically and continues to do so.  Just look at MS 158 in Queens.  Of course the statistics don't show it since many incidents go unreported or are quietly handled in house by school administrators who don't want to have the DOE penalize them as a dangerous school/

Under Mayor Bill de Blasio you have less student suspensions, not because there are less incidents but because principals are told not to suspend students for things like student misbehavior, insubordination, and drug use.  Instead, school safety officers and Deans are told to give out "warning cards" or refer the student to restorative justice  sessions that the students find as a joke.

Another issue is the use of cellphones in school.  In some schools the cellphone use was so bad that Principals have decided on their own to collect cellphones at the door, despite parent and student complaints.

Take a look at my four part series on school safety Here

Is your Principal stealing money that should be going to the kids? Was a grant given for computers, but magically disappeared?

NYCDOE teachers and their Union are a bunch of pussies. Their principals are outright criminals. Not one teacher spoke up about the behavior of the three teens that killed Tessa Majors.

99 percent of trouble makers are black are latino. not racist but that is fact. it does not look good for DOE when it seems like school admins are targeting black or latino. incidents are higher in poorer neighborhoods or more diverse schools but everyone is scared to talk about it, act on it, get sued, get recorded then posted to youtube so this is what you get....frustrated admins and white kids going to privates. no one is safe anymore. thanks debozo and dick carranza

Restorative Justice is a joke! And the students know it!

How can I find out if my school received grant money?

@2:42 - FYI , public school teachers in NYC are forbidden from making comments to the press about almost anything school related. In addition, the teachers who knew the suspected killer may have been exhibiting a bit of discretion in the matter, a quality that may have escaped you in life, judging by the idiotic tone of your contribution to this discussion. Pussies? Really?
YOU don't have the cojones to venture into the parts of the city WE serve in. Get real.

Kids rule the schools! Most are savages and get away with everything short of murder. Scary to be in front of the classroom nowadays.

I’m sure the killer’s IEP will figure prominently in his sentence determination

My wife's AP let it slip that they are 'trying to avoid OORS'

Chaz said...

Of course they don't want to list it on OORS since the DOE counts all reported incidents against the school.

12:18,
I have to sadly agree with 2:42’s assessment. Obligations and an impotent Union have left most educators shivering in fear. When is enough, enough? Turning a blind eye to everything makes us accomplices to what will be an overall accelerated fall of civilized society - but we all have bills and wait for the next guy to speak up and get hammered (or knifed).

We should just follow Carranza's example. When you feel threatened, just walk out of the classroom. He did it, why can't we?

FOIL the oors reports. Principals can't hide. I did it. It works

You may be a 'Pussy", and accept non-teachers calling you that. I don't, and never will. I did my 30 years, and got out with my dignity in tact. The UFT does suck, though. I'll give both of you that. But to say we are equally complicit in todays dysfunction is a stretch.

12:51,
I guarantee if you did 30 years in hell you were called a lot worse than a pussy by non- educators, namely students. I did 29 years, am I’m not a pussy anymore or a UFT member. And all you motherfuckers can suck my dick! Lol.

You did 29 and couldn't finish one more year? You are a pussy for LIFE, while I collect a FULL pension. And I earned the respect of 99% of my students. One did call me a "faggot" once, but he was promptly dropped by a punch to the jaw delivered by one of his classmates, the son of a former Black Panther who had a sense of justice. Sorry no one had YOUR back. And you can suck your own wanker.

50 K to leave after doing zip for years. All teachers are now pussies by default. All retired teachers are pussies if they continue to support the UFT. Just a fact. Why pay them? Even for that 50 K they negotiated. They should have offered 50 k to stay. Saying Suck my dick is now like saying good morning or good afternoon in NYCDOE schools. Sickening but true. Peace out, old homie.
