Santa Claus And The ATR

Santa Claus is known to bring presents to deserving girls and boys.  However, when it comes to ATRs, Santa Claus is unhappy since he did not deliver the ATRs the present they most wanted: A permanent position in a good school.  He tried but since the DOE is in charge, the results were disappointing.

An ATR sent Santa Claus a letter asking him to place her in a vacancy in a good school, with available parking but Santa Claus had arraigned that the ATR will be placed in a vacancy in one of the worst schools in the Borough with little parking availability.   It seemed that Santa Claus had contacted the DOE who was happy to supply him with a list of terrible schools who cannot recruit or retain teachers and supplied Santa Claus with the list of schools that nobody wants to teach in.

The UFT leadership claimed success as they convinced the DOE to develop the pilot program that would have the DOE pay the school the ATR's full salary to work in these selected terrible schools that Santa Claus was given a list of.   Has it significantly reduced the ATR pool? Only time will tell if it will be successful.

There is still approximately 1200 ATR’S.
They waste $109 and you paying ATR’S.
The Board of education doesn’t get it.
If you want to get rid of the ATR’S pool treat them
as regular teachers.

Santa....I know Namita Dwarka isn't of your faith, but could you please gift a soul to that wretched skank?

Teaching is one of the few professions where they rather pay for cheaper and younger teachers. I would never want a lawyer or doctor 1-2 years removed from college. I would want a more experienced one. Unfortunately, if you have 15 plus years you have a target on your back because God forbid you make well over 100k a year in this profession and screw up the schools budget. It's sad and that's why in 5 years the DOE will be at the end of its time. Can't keep going in this liberal direction.

Let’s see what type a buy out they
offered this year if any

There is a pilot program
To put 50 ATRS into hard to staff
schools and no charge to the school.
If this works out put another 200
into hard to staff schools.

The teachers of PS 70 in Astoria got what they wanted - Donna Geller, the degenerate whore of a principal, is gone!!!

Many of the schools in the Bronx are so bad that no ATR, that has the option of retiring, will be able to stomach. This is the plan - this isn’t some nicety co- developed by Mulgrew and deBlasio. This is to purge the system of ATRs. These schools, in the Bronx, include Wings, Eagle Academy for Young Men, HS of Violin and Dance, Bronx Studio, most schools in Evander, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Clinton. Prepare for the worst - if you’re not there now, you will be.

I thought they couldn't place you out of your borough. Did this change?

They are definetly discriminating older experienced teachers.

At everyone complaining about the placements- the rough schools are where the vacancies are.
Nobody leaves a good school.
we cant have our cake and eat it too.

They cannot place you out of the borough without your approval.

9:41,
This is the plan in every borough - not sending everyone to the Bronx.( Though if they could, they would - they may even offer some extra money redirected via the ridiculous Bronx Plan, approved by most idiots in the last contract.) Whatever it takes to force those high salaried complainers into retirement. Where’s the UFT? Mulgrew is tag-teaming with DeBlasio to fuck each and every one of you. ATRs stop paying dues! ATRs will find themselves placed in the worst possible places, as per their borough, by at least next September. - 2:48

to all you crybabies! a friend of mine was hired by a school in the bronx after being let go from a school in westchester after leaving the bronx not once but twice for the suburbs. she is in her late 40's with no special certification. NYC is treating you like you deserve to be treated!!!! stop crying and take it, like you have been.

Hey im a former ATR - got sick of fs coming in and doing drive bys observationsetc- being paranoid that i was gonna get observed in a hellhole etc. Saw the writting on the wall for atrs. took a job over a year ago. told other atrs to do the same. the response i got was always
"im going to stay an atr as long as i can"." im gonna ride this out " so now if they are placed they have no one to blame but themselves. they cannot expect the gravy train to last forever.

Cry babies? Fuck you, asshole. Maybe the city and the UFT is treating you like the piece of shit you’ve allowed yourself to become - but that’s your choice. Become an ATR if we got it so easy and spend a year in Eagle or Wings subbing, then reread your words.

I'm an ATR and I'd rather be an appointed teacher in a bad school than a useless ATR in a good school. I'm currently assigned to one of the best high schools in Queens but I'm treated like I'm second class. Besides having no time card and no mailbox and no real place to put my coat, I lounge around and only cover classes when needed. I can't make any real connections to students since I don't have any assigned classes. Sometimes I really want to sit and cry. This was not what I was hired to do. My license doesn't say ATR. It's hard seeing other teachers do what I love to do when I can't, so I'll be glad when I'm placed wherever it is. At least I'll feel like a real teacher once again.

They’re not appointing ATRs - they are hiring them as permanent in house subs - no set schedule or routine. You just stay in that school for the rest of your career subbing. A few have been given classes as new teachers get up and walk out - but that’s just for the remainder of the year, until a newbie is hired for September. There will be a ton of newbies not returning after the break - especially on the middle /high school level in the Bronx. It’s become so unsafe, it’s like what’s your life worth? What are you accomplishing? Every kid is armed, you have to pass everyone and it’s a fucking shit show on the best day.

@12:21 BOO HOO NO PLACE TO PUT YOUR COAT, CRY ME A RIVER. NO MAILBOX? REALLY? I DO MY BEST TO AVOID BEING KNOWN AT MY APPOINTED SCHOOL. AS FOR SUBBING AT WINGS FOR A YEAR- TRY TEACHING THERE!!!
INSTEAD OF BEING GLAD AT WHEN PLACED- GO OUT AND BE PROACTIVE TO GET PLACED. IT WORKED FOR ME.

@2:59 hit a nerve, sorry your pathetic career hasn't worked out. your a nyshitty babysitter maybe in your next life you can go 5 notches higher. a sanitation worker. my point was they are hiring OUTSIDE the system instead of taking from the atr pool. I bet your also a graduate of nyshitty schools. by any chance were you a crackbaby?
