According to the experts, the worst part (in terms of daily deaths and hospitalizations) is now behind the US. Cuomo in NYC worst-cased (smart move) number of hospital beds which is why Javits and the ship are essentially empty and will stay that way.

No chance 330 million tests (and re-tests for some) will be administered prior to parts of the country emerging from quarantine/lockdown/stay home. Ditto concerning a national vaccine. Although that seems to be a peculiar demand from certain predictable quarters.

Expect to see lesser-hit parts of the country (and state) start moving to normalcy in about 2 weeks. NYC and some other metropolitan areas will necessarily lag.

No need to drive ourselves into a Great Depression over this.

No school. Mayor just called it.

Dummy Deblasio just closed schools till end of the year. Must have killed this man to have sit at home and work. Probably stomped his feet like a little kid in protest, But in all seriousness he closed us to avoid public hearings. After this is over there will be public hearings. De Blasio and Mulgrew will need to be held accountable. They murdered and put ;ives at risk.

Only the governor can’t close the schools.
Governor Cuomo said he will make that decision later.
So it’s not officially closed.

Anyone have an idea about end of year ratings?

Charlotte Danielson never considered this in her rubric.

Cuomo loves rebutting what the Mayor says.

Didn't De Blasio check with the governor first?

9:17 Of course we are not waiting till the entire country is vaccinated or tested to start opening it up - -that is the hope of a few folks who think that'll make the economy fail and usher in Biden to save it or something like that. Does look like NYT/WAPO/CNN/Pelosi are pushing that sort of jive but they've only convinced their 12 readers/viewers/fans that the apocalypse is at hand.

@2:36 PM - Yes, the governor likes to do that to the mayor. The governor indicated that closing nyc public schools was De Blasio's OPINION and that he values his OPINION.

DeBlasio needs to be removed post haste with his lap dog Mulgrew.

Carranza just announced operation graduation which is in the Post. He said we need to graduate "as many Seniors as possible," and that we should "take advantage of a crisis." Is this guy for real? You need to read the comments from educators and yes they are all anonymous.

Here's a recap:

Dumb De Blasio refused to close schools until Gov. Cuomo shut him down on March 15th or so... De Blasio's feelings were hurt. How can dumb teachers be home and collect a paycheck? Only, Mayor can get paid and sit at home however DeBlasio still felt he killed many more NYers had he shut down soon. Mulgrew sat on the sideline clapping a sea lion.

Gov Cuomo then did an executive order making all teachers work during Spring Break except Thurs & Fri. Dumb DeBlasio then one upped Governor by forcing everyone to work Passover/Holy Thursday & Good Friday. Mulgrew did nothing but bark like a dog.

Now, dumb DeBlasio expected Governor to shut down all schools till July or September. Dummy decided to shut down all schools. However, Cuomo told him that he makes the decision.

Bottom line: Mayor is avoiding upcoming hearings in which he will be held accountable for his incompetency.

The leadership in NYC and NYS is just ridiculous and embarrassing. DeBlasio and Cuomo are like two little kindergarten boys in the sand pit fighting over a shovel.

De Blasio is sticking to his decision and stated HE is responsible for the people in the city of New York and that he respects the governor's work, but HE is responsible and he will keep the schools closed.

@11:47 if De Blasio is responsible for the people in they city of New York then why not shut down the schools sooner, Mr. Mayor?

@shady 1 good thing to come out of this your hood rat son and his cohorts cant pillage or deal drugs or wreck the schools. at least until September I hope!

@2:32 PM - Exactly. Now the mayor is stating that he is responsible. Unfortunately, he dragged to close them a few weeks ago.

@shady im sure a lot of teachers hope the same thing for "certain" kinds of students. you know the kind. the ones that bring down a school, a neighborhood etc. like duhhhshawn. soon most people will be back to work thank god. most of course, not all. usually the same ones that bring down a school and a neighborhood.
